Preparing for a Czech boiler operator exam: a practical study plan
Kotelna editorial team · 2 min read · Published
Recognising an answer is not the same as explaining a safe decision. Useful preparation connects question prompts, their technical basis and supervised practice on the actual equipment.

Confirm your examination scope first
Do not start with a random test. Ask your training organiser or TIČR which certificate scope you need, which documents to supply and which question set applies. Studying another scope can send you towards the wrong subjects.
Handle the date, documents and admission requirements separately, using current TIČR instructions. An app cannot establish your eligibility. This guide concerns examinations in Czechia, not qualification rules in other countries.
Organise study in four steps
This is a suggested study structure, not a prescribed training duration. Adjust it to your experience and available time.
Map the topics in your question set and flag unfamiliar terms.
Find the relevant regulation, standard or course explanation.
Answer in your own words without hints, then check your reasoning.
Revisit uncertain topics after a break rather than repeating only familiar questions.
Turn mistakes into a working list
Distinguish an unknown term from a unit mix-up, careless reading or a misunderstood operating principle. Each needs a different kind of review. Memorising an answer letter will not help when a prompt is reworded.
Use the app's result history to compare your own attempts. A practice score is neither a competence certificate nor a guarantee of passing the real examination.
Connect theory with supervised practice
During training, ask where the studied topic appears in the boiler's documentation. Do not try an internet article's procedure on equipment. Start-up, shutdown and interventions belong to approved instructions and supervision by responsible people.
The Kotelna website offers only three sample questions. Use the Android app for the question catalogue, practice tests and result history, and discuss uncertainties with a qualified trainer.
